Pune: Sunsure Energy has placed the first commercial order for Suzlon’s newly launched S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine, awarding a 105 MW project just two weeks after the company introduced what it describes as India’s tallest and most powerful wind turbine.
The Sunsure Energy order marks the commercial debut of the S175 platform and reflects continued customer confidence in Suzlon’s technology and innovation-led product portfolio.
The latest order also strengthens the partnership between Suzlon and Sunsure Energy, becoming the renewable energy company’s third order with Suzlon in less than 14 months. With this project, the cumulative capacity of their collaboration has reached 400.8 MW.
Powered by a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower, the S175 (5.0 MW) has been engineered to harness stronger and more stable wind regimes, enabling higher energy generation and improved project economics.
The turbine is designed to unlock new wind development opportunities by making previously unviable sites commercially attractive, thereby expanding the addressable market for wind energy.
Under the project scope, Suzlon will supply, erect, commission, and maintain 21 next-generation S175 wind turbine generators (WTGs) for Sunsure Energy. These turbines will be installed in Bijapur, Karnataka.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group, said: “Sunsure began their wind energy journey with us and has now grown into one of India’s largest and fast-growing C&I focused renewable energy providers.
We are proud to support their growth as our partnership deepens across geographies – from Karnataka to now two orders in Maharashtra and technology – from our maiden project on a 2.1 MW platform, to scaling on our 3 MW platform, and now becoming the launch customer for our next-generation 5 MW S175 turbine. We value their continued trust in our technology and execution capabilities.”
The latest order further expands Sunsure Energy’s renewable energy portfolio while making it the launch customer for Suzlon’s next-generation 5 MW S175 wind turbine platform.
Manish Mehta, Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer, Sunsure Energy, said: “Our strategy is centred on meeting the need for firm, reliable clean energy driven by India’s accelerated electrification and an expanded manufacturing footprint powered by data centres, GCCs, advanced manufacturing, electric mobility.
This order is a precise strategic choice as the S175 is purpose-built for firm and dispatchable power, enabling seamless integration into hybrid and Round-The-Clock solutions. It feeds into our ambition of being a 10 GW platform by 2030 and Suzlon’s three decades of execution across India gives us full confidence in the partnership.”
The company said the S175 platform has been purpose-built to support firm and dispatchable renewable power, making it suitable for hybrid and Round-The-Clock (RTC) energy solutions while supporting Sunsure Energy’s long-term target of building a 10 GW platform by 2030.
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said: “I am confident that this project will become a case study in effective energy generation and project economics.
Developing 400.8 MW with Sunsure Energy in a short span of 14 months reflects not only the pace at which India’s C&I renewable market is scaling, but also the deep trust our customers place in Suzlon’s technology, execution, and innovation.”
The 105 MW project marks the first commercial deployment of Suzlon’s S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine and further strengthens the strategic collaboration between Sunsure Energy and Suzlon as both companies continue to expand renewable energy capacity across India.
